HIGHLIGHTS

  • OnePlus Buds Pro will come with adaptive noise cancellation.
  • The feature will be toggled through the bud or through an app.
  • It will also feature a larger battery life than its predecessor.

OnePlus is set to launch the next iteration of its TWS-earbuds alongside its OnePlus Nord 2 later this month. To be called the OnePlus Buds Pro, the new earphones will come with several premium features, as has been confirmed by the company recently.

OnePlus Buds Pro will come as the successor to the OnePlus Buds launched last year. The tech major's first shot at wireless earbuds, OnePlus Buds, did not compete with the bigwigs in the industry. They lacked the premium features to bring them at par with the likes of AirPods Pro or Samsung's Galaxy Buds Pro.

OnePlus is aiming to change this with its upcoming product. True to the Pro moniker, the OnePlus Buds Pro will carry such features that will set it apart from most of the TWS offerings in the market. Adaptive noise cancellation is one such feature.

The feature's presence was confirmed on the OnePlus Buds Pro by a OnePlus top executive in a recent interaction with CNET. The executive confirmed that the wireless earbuds would come with adaptive noise cancellation that will use three microphones to monitor exterior noises. The earbuds will then produce noise-cancelling counter frequencies as per the noise detected around the wearer.

Such variable noise cancellation has been seen in TWS earbuds before. Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro, for instance, allow you to switch the noise cancellation as required. So one can turn it down while in a conversation and switch it right back up when listening to music or on a call.

On the OnePlus Buds Pro, users will be able to make a similar switch for noise cancellation through the left or the right earbud, as well as through the HeyMelody app on Android or iOS.

OnePlus Buds Pro have also been confirmed to carry a battery upgrade over their predecessors. The new earbuds by OnePlus will offer a battery life of up to 38 hours (with charging case backup) without the noise cancellation activated. With the feature enabled, the earbuds will be able to last up to 28 hours.

As for charging, a 10-minute wired recharge of the Buds Pro's case will be able to deliver 10 hours of battery life. The charging case will also feature wireless charging but at slower rates than the wired one.

CNET was also able to have a look at the new OnePlus Buds Pro. It explains that the earphones will feature an Apple AirPods Pro like design and will come in a similar size. The one seen by the publication sported a matte black colour, with matte-finish buds and glossy stems.
